About the role

The World Food Programme is seeking an expert to support the government in accessing climate finance, designing climate adaptation projects, and drafting proposals for submission to funds such as the Adaptation Fund. The consultant will oversee activities related to early warning systems, anticipatory actions, and disaster preparedness, and will liaise with partner agencies to strengthen coordination and advocacy for environment-related topics.

Education

Advanced University degree, or University degree with experience and training in climate change adaptation, environmental studies, agriculture and food security, development studies, economics, engineering, or related area.

Skills

  • Familiarity with AF/GCF rules and processes.
  • Proven ability to coordinate across multiple stakeholders.
  • Extensive, proven experience with community and stakeholders’ consultations.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Field experience will be regarded as an asset.
  • Familiarity with WFP and the UN system will be regarded as an asset.
  • Proficiency in Windows, MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
  • Excellent written and spoken French and English.
