About the role
The World Food Programme is the world's largest humanitarian organization saving lives in emergencies and using food assistance to build a pathway to peace, stability and prosperity. The Programme Policy Officer will contribute to the implementation of the Somalia Country Office strategy for partner engagement, engage cooperating partners, and coordinate capacity assessments and partnership evaluations.
Education
Advanced University Degree or First University Degree with additional experience
Skills
- Ability to sensitize cooperating partners on effective utilization of WFP CP policies and guidelines.
- Provide and coordinate input into policy discussions and decision-making processes.
- Good coordination skills.
- Strong motivation to make a difference and contribute to WFP’s mandate.
- Proven cognitive abilities, analytical, problem-solving skills; resourcefulness, initiative, maturity of judgment, tact, negotiating skills.
- Learning agility and thirst for constant growth.
- Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing.
- Ability to work in a team and establish effective working relations with persons of different national and cultural backgrounds.
- Proven communication and report writing skills.
- Proven computer literacy skills; experience in Excel and other analytical software desirable.
- Experience in working with UN, INGOs, NGOs, private sector desirable.
- Practical understanding of cooperating/implementing partners management processes, policies, and guidelines.
- Experience in building pragmatic and operational capacities of partners.
- Experience in research, monitoring and evaluation, strategic engagement, performance evaluation of partners, spot-checks and financial tracking is a plus.
- Experience in preparation of agreements/LOUs with partners and reviewing technical proposals, budgets, and reports.
